FAQ

Do you have any payment plans?

Yes we do. We ask for a 40% non-refundable deposit to reserve your retreat. The remainder of the balance will be due March 15th, 2024. You will receive two invoices from us - one for the deposit and one for your final payment. Your retreat will be officially reserved once we have received your deposit.

Note that many credit cards now offer pay as you go plans that you can find useful for these types of expenses. We also recommend you get a travel insurance will cover any changes to your travel plans. See our travel insurance suggestions below.

What is your cancellation policy?

Due to the unique and personalized nature of each trip we offer, we dedicate significant resources to accommodate every traveler's reservation. However, we also understand that circumstances may require changes to your plans. Therefore, we have implemented a flexible cancellation policy as outlined below:

Deposit: While trip deposits are non-refundable, they are transferable. You have the option to transfer your deposit to another individual who can take your place on a retreat.

Up until 180 days from the retreat start date you may receive 60% of your purchase price upon cancellation. There will be no refund of your purchase within 180 days of the retreat start date. 

Do I need insurance?

Travel insurance is the guests’ responsibility and it is recommended by Live and Learn. We highly recommend that you get one for any changes to your trip (sickness, flight delays etc...). Live and Learn LLC has no affiliation with insurance companies. It is your responsibility to find an insurer. Here are some suggestions of companies we heard great things about: here or here. 

Do I need a passport/visa?

US citizens will need a passport to visit France, but no visa is required at this time. All passports will need to be valid for at least 6 months after your scheduled return date and have at least one blank page for entry stamps.  Entry information can change so please visit the State Department’s website for current information. Nationals of all other countries should check travel requirements well in advance of their retreat.

What airport should I fly into?

Paris Charles de Gaulle airport (CDG), or Lyon Saint-Exupéry. If you need assistance booking or organizing your trip before/after the retreat, Live and Learn is happy to assist you for an additional service fee. Please reach out for more details contact@liveandlearn.fr

How do I get from CDG airport to the Dijon train station?

It takes an average of 2h 14m to travel from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport to Dijon Ville by train, over a distance of around 162 miles (261 km). There are normally 15 trains per day traveling from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport to Dijon Ville and tickets for this journey start from $42.81 when you book in advance.

Can I meet you at the Manor?

Oui ! We will be at the Dijon train station to offer transportation from the Dijon train station to the villa on the arrival date. However you are welcome to meet us straight there. The address of the villa will be provided to registered clients only.

Will we have access to WiFi?

Yes, wifi is included

What if I don't know any French?

That's what we are here for! Speaking French is not a requirement for our cultural immersion trips. We will take care of you! If you would like to begin learning French before your trip or simply touch up on the French you know, we would be happy to set you up for lessons before our trip. You can sign up here.

For our language immersion trips, we recommend an intermediate level to fully benefit from the group dynamic and the full experience. If you are unsure about your level, reach out to us. We are also happy to provide lessons prior to the trip to get you ready. You can sign up here.

What does a typical day look like? 

  • French breakfast

  • Free time (relax at the house, go for a hike to the Rully Castle and vineyards on the hill, lounge by the pool, read a French newspaper)

  • French lessons (optional for an additional fee)

  • Lunch

  • Cultural excursion or workshop

  • Assistance with purchases, ordering etc...

  • Dinner

Can my dietary restrictions/needs be accommodated? 

Most dietary restrictions can be accommodated. Please let us know when you sign up under “Dietary restrictions”. But remember France loves its gluten and dairy :)

Can I bring my children along?

The retreat is for adults only (18 and over). We do plan to offer family retreats in the future. Let us know of your interest. If you are wanting to travel as a family and book the whole retreat, we can discuss details. Please reach out at contact@liveandlearn.fr

Can I share a room and what is the setup like?

Each room is equipped with a Queen bed but can also be equipped with two twin beds. When you sign up for a +one, let us know how you would like the room to be set up for you. By sharing a room, your cost per person is $3200 for the week.

Can I book a group/family retreat?

Yes - you may book the entire retreat for your group. Please contact us to discuss details.

What is the electrical current/outlet in France?

France is on plug type “E” and 220v.  Anyone coming from a region with a different plug or voltage should pack their adaptor and/or converter.

What is the currency in France? 

France uses the Euro and while we suggest you get cash in Euros when or before you arrive, credit cards are also widely accepted (purchase minimums may apply). Check the current rates of conversion from US dollars to Euros.
