Retreat activities*

Sailing

Aboard his beautiful 40 ft sailboat, our friend Jean-Loup will take us along the bay of Carantec. You will be able to try your hand at sailing or simply enjoy gliding along. We will chat about the history of the bay, enjoy some wine and food and for those who wish to jump in the pristine crisp waters of the bay. We will go by Brittany's “Alcatraz”, the Château du Taureau. This amazing island fortress is visible on the horizon for miles around, and was indeed a prison for many years.

Cooking lesson

Learn traditional dishes from the area alongside a Michelin star Chef. You will prepare and savor a full meal (appetizer, main, and dessert). The cooking class will take place at the chef’s restaurant in an XVIIth century home - you will feel like you traveled through time!

Horseback riding

Hop on a horse with Hortense, Marie-Anne and local riders for an adventure on the trail or the beach depending on weather conditions.

Painting

Join our friend Guillaume for a 3-hour painting course open to all! Beginners like us, or even experts, you will all enjoy meeting Guillaume and learning his many techniques.

Born in 1951 into a family that introduced him to painting and music from an early age, his school is that of life, work and the keen observation of nature, which he loves above all else. After numerous exhibitions throughout France Guillaume turned professional in 1992, setting up his studio and gallery in Brittany, the land of his origins, where he works in a spirit of research and evolution that makes his signature shine beyond borders. Oil on canvas is his main mode of expression, but he has also practiced other techniques, notably drawing, to which he attaches great importance.

Isle of Batz

A few miles from Roscoff (about 15 minutes crossing), Enez Vaz is located in the Gulf Stream's wake. This quiet island conceals many treasures, the most remarkable living in the heart of its inhabitants : authenticity.

Series of dunes, white sand beaches, Georges Delaselle's verdant garden, wild coastlines with gorgeous views as you stroll along. Several buildings and relics are testimony to the ancient settlement of the island, such as the remains of the Bronze Age or the ruins of Saint Anne’s chapel (to the East) or Saint Pol’s stole (in the village church). More recently the lighthouse, Captain’s houses or the guardroom have shaped the outline of the island.

Cidrerie - Cider house

Visit a cider house and a brewery both at the same time! These beers are made from organic barley produced on-site and malted in Brittany. Thrill your taste buds with their authentic flavors. Issued from organic orchards, these ciders and apple juices are the perfect companions for crepes and many other meals.

Kerjean castle

At the height of Brittany’s golden age, towards the end of the 16th century, the Barbier family built a castle that surpassed the most beautiful residences in the region. A Renaissance architectural jewel, surrounded by an exceptional walled enclosure to protect it, the Château de Kerjean and its 20-hectare wooded grounds offer a multitude of treasures, both architectural and natural.

Lighthouse in Brittany
Marie-Anne and Hortense became family. Their attention to detail and emphasis on an authentic French experience was remarkable. The excursions were short & sweet with plenty of relaxation built into our days. All of the food was well planned and delicious; from a private chef, learning to make French cuisine myself, or eating a wonderful meal out. This is a trip I will never forget and am truly grateful they were by my side.
